The second most common reason is damage...

If your door is physically damged due to wear and tear, high winds, vehicle contact or other damage you likely need to replace it. Repair Your Garage Door

You can usually repair your garage door when....

It simply stops working - the more suddenly it stopped working, typically, the easier it is to repair. An expert can usually spot the problem quickly and have the door working again in no time.

The door feels 'heavy'...

This is a common issue that happens to garage doors over time and can certainly be repaired. In fact, you won't believe it when its done... it will feel brand new as the door is brought back into perfect balance. This is a result of the springs not having enough tension.

It's Unsafe - This is tricky...

Because safety is so important; we can't say without looking at the door... Often an unsafe door can be repaired, other times it is the garage door opener that needs to be replaced. The most important thing is to avoid any accidents and get the door inspected as soon as possible.

A Panel is damaged...

If your door was scratched and now it's starting to rust you should replace the door or panel sooner than later. Weak spots in the door will result in more issues as well as safety conerns down the road. Same thing goes with a dent. Take a look at the door and see if the dent or scratch or cosmetic flaw is on one panel or two. If it's one panel it might make sense to repair the door by replacing the panel.
